Top 10 Places To Promote Your New Blog For Free Online

Let’s say you have a perfectly polished and ready-to-go blog post.

Now what?

Many bloggers simply publish the post on their website and then call it a day. But that’s not the best approach if you want to be a successful blogger.

While it’s important to optimize your blog for search engines, it’s equally important to share your content in places where people will see it and engage with it.

With that in mind, here are 7 places you should consider publishing your blog posts.

1.Your website

Your website should be front and center on your list of places to publish your blog post. After all, your website is why you created a blog in the first place, and it should come with plenty of advantages for promoting your content, including:

It’s yours and no one can take it away from you (unlike social media)

You control what gets shown on every page

You have a ton of flexibility to build out your site’s branding, design and functionality

Once you publish it, you can share it indefinitely. It will be there as long as people are looking for it and search engines are indexing it.

2. Your Email list

For most of us, our email list is one of our biggest sources of regular readers. It's also where we have the most opportunity to connect with our readers.

So why would we write a post and not share it with them?

Every time I publish a new blog post, I send an email out to my list letting them know about it. This is something that works really well for me because my readers consistently come back and read my new posts after receiving these emails.

So, go ahead and send an email out to your email subscribers.

3. Pinterest

Pinterest is a great place to promote your blog post because of its high referral traffic rates (3.3%) — higher than Facebook or Twitter. You can also repin old pins so they’ll keep showing up in people’s feeds.

Tailwind Tribe makes this easy by suggesting popular images that match your niche that you can repin on Pinterest.

Just upload the image you want to use in Tailwind, add a link back to the original source and publish it in relevant tribes and Pinterest groups.

Pinterest is a visual search engine. The majority of pins on Pinterest are blog posts. When you want to drive traffic to your blog, posting on Pinterest can do wonders. It’s one of the best ways to get more blog traffic.

More info on Pinterest can be found in this previous blog article.

4. Tailwind Tribe

Tailwind Tribe is a great way to grow your traffic quickly.

You can join communities of people who are in your same niche and share each other’s content.

This helps you get more blog views and reach new audiences. It’s also a great way to build relationships with people in your niche.

If you are not using Tailwind yet as a content creator and blogger you are missing out. Read this to learn how to use it and how it could save you hours of work.

You can also use my referral link to use it for free for 30 days.

5. Recurpost

It can be hard to share your content daily, especially if you have a full-time job or kids at home. Using Recurpost makes it easy to share your content multiple times without taking up much of your time or effort.

It will help you get more blog traffic and social media followers too.

Anytime I publish a new blog article on my website, I just have to copy the link to Recurpost to add the blog article to the publishing queue.

You can setup the days of the week you wish your blog post to be published and you are done. Everything is automated.

And once you reach the end of the queue, it will re-start from the beginning making your content evergreen!

This is ideal for platforms where you are not the most active!

6. Instagram

If you have an Instagram account for your business or blog, you can share the link to your new post in your Instagram bio.

If people are interested in what you're sharing about, they'll click on the link in your bio and read it.

You can also share a picture related to the post with a caption explaining that there's a new blog post and linking back to it by using a short URL.

You can make short URLs in Linktree or Bitly.com or even use the smart.bio tool included with your Tailwind membership.

7. Facebook

Facebook is a great way to reach people with similar interests. You can share your new blog post in Facebook groups, and you can also share the link on your personal profile.

If you have a Facebook page for your business or blog, you can also share the link there.

8. Google Search Console

If you want your blog articles to be indexed in Google search results, you need to submit your website sitemap for indexing.

It will basically tell Google to use their crawler robots to scan your website and index your website pages on Google.

If you want to speed up the indexing process.

You just need to setup your Google search console account.

Then paste the URL in the search box and request indexing. It will take a couple seconds and then Google will do the rest.

Pro tip: if you want your blog to show on the first page result, make sure to optimise it for SEO and use keywords that are not too competitive with a high search volume.

9. Twitter

I neglected twitter for a few years because I did not really get how to use it as a blogger. But this platform is great to build relationships and eventually a community. You just need to be active on the platform like many others.

The blogger community is quite big. Sharing your content on Twitter to the right audience can help you get more exposure and eventually get viral.

10. Medium

Medium is one of the biggest blogging platforms online. I would not solely use it to blog however. But it is a great platform to publish your content and get more eye balls.

You can also get paid by writing articles. The more readers you get the more money you make.

Their editing team also select articles that can help give a boost to the visibility of your article if selected.

So, to recap, the best places to share your blog post once it is published are:

  1. Your website

  2. Email Your List

  3. Pinterest

  4. Tailwind Tribes

  5. Recurpost

  6. Instagram

  7. Facebook

  8. Google Search Console

  9. Twitter

  10. Medium

It is important for your blog articles to remain visible for as long as possible. That's why posting on social media only is not ideal as the longevity of your posts is too short. (1-2 days)

Aside from SEO, Pinterest, Tailwind and Recurpost are my go-to online platforms to make my blog article evergreen and bring regular traffic to my blog.

As a blogger, your goal is to share valuable content with your audience and encourage them to come back for more. Hence, the reason to build an email list and keep them informed of the latest updates on your website.
