People often ask me how I can afford to travel so often. And my answer to them is: :

"How bad are you willing to travel?"

I started traveling at least once every two months in 2015. This is when I started my travel blog and made the choice to put travel as a priority in my life.

I was either scared to travel on my own and was waiting for other people to be willing to travel with me. Or I believed I did not have enough money to travel. But here is the thing, like everything in life, if you make something your priority you will find a way to make it come true.

In 2015, I was working a corporate job. But since I decided to put travel first in my life, I had to make changes in my daily habits. So, here are the 3 key things I did to achieve my ultimate goal.

1. Make time to travel

I am sure you are also victim of not having enough time to do what you want to do during a day.

You are always busy. You have to commute to work in the morning, then spend the day at work, maybe go to the gym after work before commuting back home and then the last thing you want to do is to read something.

You just want to either be entertained to change your mind and so you will switch on your TV or maybe you have a family life that keeps you busy most of the evening or you just want to relax and lay down on your comfortable bed before doing the same thing the next day.

Sounds familiar?

So now let me tell you that we all have 24 hours in a day and if I managed to do it, you can do it too.

So when you are commuting, when you are on a work break and when you go to the gym during the day, use this time to learn about traveling.

What traveling hacks you could use, when is the best time to travel to destinations of your choice, how to setup a travel budget and so on. With today's technology you got all this information at your finger tips.

Subscribe to Youtube channels and follow influencers you like, go on Pinterest and create your travel boards, go on Instagram or Facebook and follow travel bloggers. (wink wink @themillennialnomad)

The main objective here is to use your time wisely on doing constructive tasks. They do not necessarily need to be long but they need to contribute to build your knowledge and achieve your end goal in the long run.

2. Manage Your Money

We all have a salary at the end of the month, but we do not all have the same expenses. Back in 2015 I had a rent to pay, a student loan to pay back every month, bills, food, clothing and miscellaneous.

No need to say that I did not have much left after all these expenses.

But I still managed to save enough money.

How did I do this? By cutting my expenses.

I checked all my monthly expenses and cut my budget where I could.

I stopped going out every weekend, I stopped drinking alcohol, I stopped going to the gym and worked out at home instead.

I stopped buying my lunch every single day at work and went grocery shopping once a week, cooked my meals for the week at home and brought my lunch boxes at work.

You need to be willing to make little sacrifices everyday that will contribute to create a better tomorrow.

Now that you have made time to learn about traveling and that you saved the money to travel and be able to afford visiting the country of your choice for couple days what is stopping you from doing it?

I know: FEAR.

3. Get out of your comfort zone

Many people are afraid of traveling on their own in a foreign country.

And I don't blame them, I was the same before and it is understandable.

You do not speak the local language, you do not know how the public transport works, you do not know how safe it is, etc...

Let me tell you, that those barriers are the ones you built YOURSELF.

Ask to anyone who is used to travel abroad and they will tell you that nothing is different, everything works the same way wherever you go.

The only thing that would differ is the culture and customs which is something you can learn before hand or even when you arrive at destination.

Just be respectful and the rest will follow.

If you are scared of traveling on your own, stay at hostels and meet with other people of your age.

If you do not speak the language, try to speak couple words of English, it is a Universal language and so far I never had any issues.

Otherwise, learn a couple words in the local language, there are many applications that can teach you that.

You have no excuses.

You see FEAR has two meanings: Forget everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise, the choice is yours.

To sum up, by following these 3 key advice, I can guarantee you that it will change your life.

By applying this every day you will be building new habits that will contribute towards your main goal and in the long run it will even become natural.

The last months before I quit my job I used to travel every single month to a new place.

Today, my situation as a Digital Nomad allows me to include travel in my life without thinking too much about the financial part anymore as I am earning a passive income online.
